Small Business, Manufacturing, and Flexible Specialization: Implications for the Archivist

This article relates current research in the history of small business to archival practice. It compares the ways small and large firms are organized and function and describes how these differences are reflected in the records of such firms. The author discusses the implications of this model for documentation strategies and the appraisal of business records.
